Easy to find law

The legify site provides a single simple search for Commonwealth, state and territory Acts and Regulations. It does not do a full text search so users have to know at least part of the name of the law they are looking for.

The public can also access current laws at Federal Register of Legislation(opens in a new window) (formerly called ComLaw).

If they select ‘Acts in force’ and then choose the appropriate letter, for example ‘Cr’. This will take the user to the latest version of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth).

The Legislative instruments tab' lists Regulations, Ordinances and Directions.

The Federal Register of Legislation also lists Bills and explanatory memoranda.
