Is person fined an asylum seeker?

Asylum seekers who have fines and are concerned about the possible migration consequences should be referred to the Social inclusion team.

Asylum seekers who have:

  • less than $5,000 in fines with special circumstances
  • more than $5,000 in fines and no special circumstances

and are concerned about the possible migration consequences should be referred to the Social inclusion team. Emails must be marked 'possible migration consequences'.

Legal Help staff need to ask if a code of behaviour has been signed and prepare a CIR for these matters before e-referring.

See Migration—Triage of migration matters.
