Poisons Standard June 2021 (Cth)

This legislative instrument has all of the decisions made about the classification of medicines and poisons into Schedules that are relevant to legislation in all states and territories of Australia. The aim of this instrument is to promote uniform scheduling of substances and uniform labelling and packaging throughout Australia.

Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981 (Vic)

This Act governs the use, possession, and creates offences that deals with drugs, poisons and other dangerous substances.

Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances (Confiscation) Regulations 2014 (Vic)

These regulations prescribe the forms to be used to notify a person that property has been seized and is being held because it is tainted property.

Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances (Volatile Substances) Regulations 2014 (Vic)

The Regulations prescribe:

  • the manner in which searches without warrant are to be conducted
  • what is included in records of the searches, apprehension and detention and disposal or making safe of any volatile substance or item used to inhale a volatile substance.

Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth)

This Act establishes a national system of controls relating to the quality, efficacy, safety and availability of therapeutic goods and to provide a framework for the states and territories to adopt a uniform approach to control the availability, accessibility, and to ensure safe handling of poisons in Australia.
