Crackdown on private car park operators

From 26 August 2015, private car park operators are no longer able to apply to courts for access to driver's details through VicRoads.

From 26 August 2015, private car park operators are no longer able to apply to courts for access to driver's details through VicRoads. This is because private car parks are not permitted to issue fines to drivers. However, many have been caught sending documents that look very much like fines, which trick people into believing that they must pay up.

See s. 90R—Road Safety Act 1986 (Vic), Road Safety Amendment (Private Car Parks) Bill 2015 (Vic) and Parking in private car parks.
