Changes make the coronial system better for families

Changes from 3 March 2019  enhance the coronial system for families and interested persons.

Changes from 3 March 2019 enhance the coronial system for families and interested persons. The time limit for appealing a refusal by the coroner to re-open an investigation has been increased to 3 months. Interested parties are able to apply to the coroner to amend the wording of a coroner's decision in limited circumstances. The Act now clearly states that coronial decisions under former Acts may be reviewed by the court if new facts and circumstances arise.
